With the holidays approaching there are a number of hot topics popping up in news, threads, and social media within the process server profession. This week's hot topics include how affidavits differ from state to state, Facebook getting served, process server assault and the PAAPRS initiative, serving on Halloween, and what to charge on rush serves. Process servers are naming their state and sharing what makes affidavits unique in their area. List any additional requirements, whether or not a notary is required, additional fields or specific terms of how the affidavit must be presented.

Some process servers went out serving papers on Halloween. One process server explained that the defendant only answered the door because he thought the process server was just a parent checking out the neighborhood. Should process servers be out working on Halloween?

What is appropriate to charge for a serve that must be completed in 6 hours?
A group member poses the question of what's an acceptable amount to charge for a serve to be completed in 6 hours. So far group members have said $95, the standard rush fee, double the price of the regular serve, as well as a few other specific prices. Some have noted that it's important to be fair as this is an opportunity for repeat business.
