In a messy divorce battle between Kris Humphries and Kim Kardashian, Humphries' divorce attorney tried to have Kanye West served with a subpoena by putting it in a Nordstrom box and sending it to Kim Kardashian's house. Some news stories noted that the process server rang the doorbell and that Kardashian answered but in response to an inquiry of whether or not West was present said that he was on the phone. Though Humphries filed for annulment on the grounds of fraud, Kardashian had already filed for divorce. Humphries alleges that Kardashian only married him to benefit her reality show. According to various news sources the box contained a deposition request.

An investigative report on evading service of process
In Lakewood, Georgia, the Fox 5 Investigation Team presented a special story on a local business that receives government contracts even though they have a history of avoiding lawsuits and evading process servers. Family-owned business Scott and Sons is involved in sewer work projects, sidewalk construction, street work, housing authority jobs, and other taxpayer-funded projects. More than 60 failed attempts have been logged against the two brothers and their father. Attempts have been made at their business and homes, and reasons listed included refusing service, jumping in the car and fleeing, refusing to take the paperwork, and even driving through a front lawn to get away. A Scott and Sons former employee shared that the brothers had a number of tactics for evading service, including switching cars, keepng the doors constantly locked, hiding, and ordering employees to take photos of the cars and license plate numbers of process servers making attempts.
A recently hired attorney for the company, Mawuli Mel Davis, said, "That's obviously not something that the company is proud of and is not something that will continue to be a part of their business model." The investigative reporter who presented the story noted that with just a few feet between the business's front door and the cars parked in front combined with the family's tactics to avoid being served it's understandable that process servers have encountered trouble.
